In Vietnam, there are more than 5.1 million disabled people.
There are 2.6 million people who are disabled at hearing or speaking or both.
32.99% of hearing-impaired students dropped out of schools and another 2.57% can not attend schools due to their disability.
In Ho Chi Minh city, there are 15 schools & learning centers specialized for hearing-impaired children, most of which offer only primary level education. Secondary schools have been opened but remain few in quantity.
There are only 2 pedagogical centers that focus on training teachers for the hearing-impaired, namely National College for Kindergarten Education 3 for kindergarten teachers and Specialized Education Department of the University of Education, Ho Chi Minh City for Primary School teachers.
